One of the things that has hindered my content creation, outside of having a full-time job, is not knowing which tools to use and being afraid that things are too costly to try.
When i first started my YouTube channel, I had an iPhone, an iPad and used iMovie to shoot, edit, and publish all my videos. But things took a turn last year when i made the executive decision to switch to an Android device.
Though my storage capacity and ability to have direct access to Google Drive drastically increased, it left me bewildered on how to shoot content, where to transfer it to, and which editing software to use. Things are so much easier when your devices have the manufactured ability to sync with each other, and after having such a seamless experience with iMovie, everything else seemed so complicated.
Whenever I'm faced with a decision, I reflect on the time I was talking with my mom about dating and telling her that i felt like i had to choose. in that moment she told me that i didnt have to and that just because we are presented with options doesn't mean we have to choose any of them.
From that point forward, to know me is to know that when I dont know what to do or am not 100% sure about the path to take, i dont move. I CAN wait until I know what to do and until I'm sure.
With that being said, Last week, i finally downloaded CapCut after seeing the logo at the end of so many social media videos and it was a dream. It was everything i needed and more. I could manage it from my computer and phone and easily upload my videos to all platforms. It also allows me to edit the same video for both personal and professional use, and that i adore.
Posting quality content is a requirement for success and essential to growth on any social media platform and using tools that are right for you play a major role in that. Patience is truly a virtue, but what's most important is knowing what you're looking for and not settling for less than what you need and know your followers deserve.
Had i used any other app, I would not have been satisfied with the end result and would not have completed the work that i know I am capable of.
The moral of this story is that not everything needs to happen right away and nothing happens overnight. Creating a social media presence is not as important as building the business, doing the project, or enjoying life itself.
Its been a year since I started renting cars on Turo, but only a few months since I've been actively (and intermittently) promoting my business on my social media. So yes, its true. Good things come to those who wait, and God makes everything beautiful in His time.
