Dating
and relationships in 2020 are like trying on press on nails. More than enough
nails come in a pack and although some of them could work, there is always one
that fits each finger better than all the rest.
One of my favorite relationship analogies comes from a passage of Scripture in John 2:1 – 11. In this passage, Jesus and his disciples are invited to a wedding in Cana of Galilee. When they wanted wine, they are informed that all the wine is gone. According to the KJV Cross Reference Study Bible, running out of wine was a desperate situation and could pose a severe reputational dispute for the host family.
When Mary brought this to her son’s attention, Jesus asked his servants to fill
the pots with water. After filling them to the top, He then requested that they
draw from them and take it to the governor of the feast. When the governor
tasted the water that was turned into wine, he called Jesus and said unto him,
“Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well
drunk, then that which is worse; but you have saved the best wine until now.”
The disciples in this account followed Jesus’ instructions and did exactly what
He told them to do. If you are searching for a relationship or desiring a mate,
follow God’s instructions and do exactly what He is telling you to do. Don’t
worry about finding the right nail but focus on being the finger that it fits.
The wine that the men brought to the feast was good, but the water that Jesus
turned into wine was better than the wine they brought themselves. Although we have all
made what we thought were good choices in relationships, know that the person God has for you will be
better than the one you could ever choose for yourself.
