After searching YouTube and reviewing countless make-up tutorials, I decided to stick to what I knew. Lord knows I love my sleep and I plan to get every bit of it. It's been a few months since I've worn foundation, but I've been wearing a pressed powder instead. I wanted to do a video and blog to show you guys how I get ready in under ten minutes.
Face
I always start by washing my face with a green tea soap. This green tea soap is homemade by a black owned company called Earthen Escapes and retails for $11.00. This soap is a natural cleanser that helps prevent breakouts, fades dark spots, and hyperpigmentation. After my bout with maskne, this green tea soap has helped even my skin tone and return a smooth, even glow.

Skin Care Routine: Earthen Escapes Green Tea Soap, Proactiv Solution
Using a pressed powder underneath my foundation has been proven to provide a great base for my make-up and keeps it matte for most of the day. Having oily skin and wearing foundation can be a challenge, and when worn alone, the pressed powder gives a slightly polished but not perfect finishing touch.
Powder: Black Radiance Pressed Powder, Golden Almond
I have tried various finishing sprays, but I love this one the most. It is lightweight and great for sensitive skin. It also controls the shine of oily skin and keeps my make-up looking matte all day. It has a 16-hour wear and only costs $6.99, which is a great deal for the 3.4 oz size bottle.
Finishing Spray: Maybelline New York Lasting Fix Make-Up Setting Spray Matte Finish
Highlight
Even on days that I do not wear foundation, I always enjoy highlighting. For my under-eye highlight, I start by placing three diagonal lines underneath my eye. I prefer to use my finger to press it in and spread it out. It's easier to use my finger rather than certain brushes and tools because I have more control.

Contour
When contouring, I prefer to use tools that help keep the makeup under control. Though some people use bronzer and perfectly dust it around the outer edges of their face, using a contouring stick helps me control where the makeup goes. What I have learned about using the contouring stick is that I have to aggressively blend to ensure that there is no line left on my forehead and on the sides of my face.

Lips
When I use a lip balm or a lip primer, then the color of my lip pencil is more visible. For me, using a lip pencil also creates more definition. Without the lip pencil, my lips tend to blend in with the rest of my face, especially when wearing nude lipstick. After applying the lip pencil, I use a lip brush. I do not like a perfect line and doing this enables me to easily provide a dark to light gradient with the chosen colors.
