Love Me Naked | March 2021

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
Proverbs 31:25 NLT

As a full-time teacher, part time graduate student, daughter, sister, lover, and friend, it was sometimes hard pulling myself together and keeping it that way. I knew I wanted to do more, but I didn’t know what it looked like or where to start. Despite being pressed for time, I watched numerous videos and read several articles. Somewhere along the way and after monthly bouts with make-up application, I realized that I needed step by step procedures along with diagrams to help me work out the kinks.

In teaching, this is relative to what we call Procedural Knowledge. Procedural Knowledge is the most basic level of knowledge that helps introduce students to the concept of whatever they are learning. In most instances, students must have basic procedural knowledge prior to developing the ability to think critically or creatively about a topic, or in this case, get all wild and crazy with color combinations.

After not finding exactly what I was looking for, I consulted a professional make-up artist to help me make sense of it all. From my years of experience and desire to help others, I became monochromatically me and created Beginning Beauty for the Brown Skinned Girl to appeal to each woman’s learning style. There are so many ways to apply make-up, but our goal is to create and demonstrate simple application techniques, for the everyday, working woman to wear.
